Welcome to the Peacock Revolution

There is a war going on. A war against machoism. What is machoism? Machoism, as defined by myself, is the belief that in order to be a man in today's society one should be a dirty, grungy, obtuse, hairy, bare-knuckle dragging, neandertal. No more! I am declaring war on machoism. This blog will forge a revolution. A Peacock Revolution!

Uncomfortable Position

Hello style mavens,

A few weeks ago I was invited out by a fellow fashion student to attend a fashion show, where he was making the clothes. He's really cute so I decided to go out and support him. The show was at a club where the crowd was "different" to say the least. I felt really uncomfortable. Add to that, the fashion show was scheduled to start at 11pm, but the show didn't start until 12:30am! Ridiculous! The club that was hosting the event was featuring local hip hop artists. Artist after artist continually got up to play a song or two and give a shout out as too when there album would drop. Some of the artists had really good songs others were ok. Anywhoo, the show was great and the outfits were cute. He is a really talented individual, and the sweetest guy. Oh well another night...

I am absolutely in love with that cute little hat. I picked it up from Forever 21. It was the last one. Fate?

Gladiators as always. Hey it's summer time.

The black rose really adds a little drama to the outfit. Oh how I love a little drama (in fashion, that is).

Air Heart!

Greetings style mavens,

I was surfing the internet and came across a beautiful jumpsuit on http://www.net-a-porter.com/. It was absolutely gorgeous, so I had to make a set courtesy of Polyvore that featured the jumpsuit. I got an inspiration of a rough and tough individual that could brave impossible odds, standup against doubters,  and look good doing it. I got...

Yes, that courageous plane-flying heroine, Amelia Earhart. The leather jacket gives it edge and style, while the oxfords give it wit and charm.

Til next time,
Stay Strong!

Dinner with Friends.

Greetings style mavens,

I am back online. However, I don't know how long that will last. Anywhoo, let's not waste any more precious time.

A while back I went out to dinner with Shanequa, Dawana, and Dexter. We all decided meet up again and have a little get together at Bahama Mama. I wasn't sure what to wear but then it hit me (right on time as always). A turban! Wear it like they wore it back in the days of Poiret. Needless to say, the search was on. I searched high and low for a store that would possibly be fashion forward enough to have turbans, but affordable enough for me to pay the light bill. LOL (just a little bit of humor)

Sadly, there were no turbans to be found. Just as I was about to give up, I thought "wait a minute, why not make my own turban using a scarf." This way I could just use a scarf I already had and save money. So I searched the internet for instructions on how to do so, and I found this interesting video tutorial. It was extremely helpful...

Ta-daaa!! My turban isn't nowhere near as neat as his but it was sufficient enough. I wanted to put a feather brooch on it, but, alas I could not find one of those either.

I absolutely love this shirt from Forever 21. It is so clever with the zip-sleeves. Pair it with some shorts and you get a bit of an African model look going on. Of course, I don't look anything like a model. (*sigh* to be insanely beautiful, and rich)

I love this pose. I felt like flying. It must have been the feather necklace. Ignore the bag of trash in the background. I couldn't crop it out without chopping off my leg.

That pearl ring, that pearl ring, what else can I say but, that pearl ring.

I finished the look off with some Gladiator sandals and was on my way to meet my friends. What a lovely time we had!
