Welcome to the Peacock Revolution

There is a war going on. A war against machoism. What is machoism? Machoism, as defined by myself, is the belief that in order to be a man in today's society one should be a dirty, grungy, obtuse, hairy, bare-knuckle dragging, neandertal. No more! I am declaring war on machoism. This blog will forge a revolution. A Peacock Revolution!

Join me in the battle against bad fashion!

Capture that Item: Feather Headband

Greetings style mavens,

So, I was back on one of my fave online shopping sites of all time- ASOS.  Of course right now I can't afford anything :*-(  (that's me with a tear by the way).  I came across this FLY ass headband.  Now normally I don't wear too many headpieces as most of them are a little too feminine for my taste, and ever since I cut my hair I have been in terrible need of something to do with my hair until it grows to a length I can do something to it...

Her Curious Nature Tweed Antler Alice Band
Retail: $96
Direct Link: Asos.com

I absolutely am in love with this headband.  I would totally wear this out and it would give my hair the spice it needs.  There's just one problem.  It's too expensive :-(
Ok brief summary: Made primarily of 100% wool tweed this headband features a gold tone stag head, draped metal chains, and two amazing feather antlers.

The feathers alone are good enough to get me to buy it but the stag head and tweed patch have me absolutely drooling over here. *wipes mouth*  The tweed and the stag lend this otherwise girly piece just the right amount of masculinity for me to pull it off.

Now if only I had someone to purchase it for me...

Din-Din with the Friends!

Greetings Fashionable Ones,

Back again heh, heh, (crickets). Sooooo, anyway I have been meaning to post. I have just been too lazy. Hey! Don't judge me.

So me and Friends had went to dinner recently at this chic hotel restaurant the other day to discuss business.  The setting was beautiful, reminding me of a plush garden.  However they did have a lot of themes going on at this hotel, one minute it's hawaiian-esq, the next I get a Japanese sushi restaurant, then they are switching over to Bollywood with Indonesian parasols.  Oh well needless to say I had to dress it up...

The restaurant had a beautiful setting outside for us to take pictures.

It was a little nippy that day. (well not really, but I just wanted to wear my cape)
I paired this pretty green thermal I got from Forever 21with my trusty grey high waist shorts.

I jazzed up the look with one of my scarves, and finished the look off with my over-the-knee socks and combat boots.  It's a militant chic look.

It really was a beautiful restaurant and I had a great time with Noosie, Dee, and Dex!

Pink Pant-her!

Hello fabulous style icons,

Back again for another style post.  This time it features these lovely pink pants that I found at Goodwill...

I wanted to pair these pants with a shirt that would mellow them out just a little, so I went with this white and blue button down shirt.

The pants are pretty eccentric so I wanted to go with a minimal amount of accessories.
My silver cuff and my black and multi-colored sandals.

The basic setup of this outfit is similar to the one I wore during my trip to Whole Foods. However, I like that one a little better than this one because those blue pants fit me perfectly.

Slicker Than a Can of Oil

Salutations style mavens,

It's been a while since I posted a hygiene post.  I mean I do practice good hygiene everyday, I just don't normally find products worth blogging about.  That is until I stumbled across my latest obsession- Oils!

Oils can be extremely beneficial when it comes to hair and skin.  I went to GNC to see what good oils I could find to help me in my journey to great skin and hair...

Grapeseed Oil
Retail: $9.99
First up is Grapeseed Oil.  Grapeseed oil is lighter compared to other oils and is perfect for sealing in moisture in the hair and scalp and the skin as well.

Jojoba Oil
Retail: $9.99
I think Jojoba oil is the best of all the oils offered at my local GNC.  It's the most expensive at least.  It can be used for hair, skin, and all over the body.

Avocado Oil
Retail: $6.49
Avocado oil is the most familiar to me.  It is commonly used in most hair sprays for it's natural shine enhancing properties.  I have used this for both my hair and skin and love it.

So there you have it folks my latest craze.  I can't wait to the benefits and effects of using these products start kicking in.

Hair Supplements

Greetings fashionable ones,

As you all know, I had Big Chopped (cut all my hair off) back in March to grow my hair naturally.  (That means free of chemicals ie...relaxers, texturizers, etc.. to those who don't know what natural means.)

Of course, I have always been one to be a little impatient when it comes to things concerning myself.  So it comes as no surprise that I want my hair to grow faster.

This called for a bit of research to see first if that was possible, what product will do this the best, and how much does it cost.

My research led me to a supplement known as Biotin.  Biotin aids in the production of hair and nail growth. My first thought was to head to Whole Foods and if not there then try GNC. I discovered it was located at the former...

Biotin
60 capsules
Retail Price: $6.99

The price actually surprised me a little bit. I was expecting it to be a little more expensive, but I'm not complaining.  I have recently started taking it and can't wait for the results.

A Trip to Whole Foods

Salutations stylish ladies and gents,

Recently, I decided to visit Whole Foods in search of biotin supplements for my hair.  Biotin is used to speed up the growth of hair.  Fortunately, I found some and it wasn't too expensive.  On top of that my trip to whole foods was quite pleasant.  The lady was very knowledgeable when it came to which vitamins would serve my purpose better.  However, there was this lady in the same section, and I could have sworn she was trying to take a picture of me.  Not really sure if that was the case, but if so that is extremely rude.

If she wanted a pic, then she just should have came up to me and asked...

I didn't really appreciate this outfit, until I looked at the pictures the following day.

I found these LizSport cropped pants at Goodwill, and I gotta say they fit me exceptionally well.

I think what I love about this ensemble is that it is casually chic and really looks more like a fashionable guy would wear this. (LOL and I'm not talking about myself)

Of course I had to throw in a little bit of androgyny with my sandals. The belt really pulls this look together.

Would you believe I got this beautiful green bracelet from Pier 1?! Score!

These sandals came from LoveCulture. Only $16.99.

Dressing up to dress down at work

Greetings my stylish friends,

Today was a casual day just like all the others, so I decided to dress up to make myself feel better.  Of course I realized that I would eventually have to dress down and get in that dreadful work uniform.  Oh well at least I looked nice...

As I looked at these photos I thought they looked a bit more grainy than usual. I later found out that was because I had the camera on a lower resolution setting. OOPS!

Still, I need to invest in a better camera.

Revitalizing Dinner with Friends

Greetings style mavens,

It's been a long time since I posted. My sincerest apologies. If you have been reading my blog, then you know that from time to time I have issues that affect my life and prevents me from being creative. This last one was no different only in the fact that it lasted a little longer.  However, I recently had lunch with my fabulous friends Fashion Pad creator Shanequa, Dexter, and Dawana of Dress Haven, and I have to say GOD will put great people in your life to strengthen you when you are weak...

So, it's been a while since I really put some thought into my outfit. All I have been doing is work and piecing my life together. However, I'm glad to see I still have my GOD given gift.

I combed through my closet to find something worthy of my fashionable friends. I decided upon this wonderful Ralph Lauren blazer that a friend found for me at Goodwill.

Ralph Lauren is a master at signature American class, so I paired it with a simple striped shirt and grey shorts.  This color scheme instantly suggests casual/prep, which is exactly what I was going for. I also added this cute gold leaf headband that I got from Asos.com to give the outfit a little bit of fantasy.

All brown accessories seal the style. Tan belt, Amaretto-colored ring, and my trusty Cole Haan oxfords.

Blazer: Ralph Lauren
Shirt: Banana Republic
Headband: Asos
Shorts: Forever 21
Ring: Banana Republic
Belt: Target
Oxfords: Cole Haan

What a refreshing and energizing dinner,

Capture that Item: Cole Haan Tote

Greetings stylish mavens,

A couple of days ago, I was checking my email and I noticed an advertisement from one of my favorite brands: Cole Haan.  It was for the recent sale, so I decided to click on over and have a look.  While on the site, I came across this magnificent find...

Cole Haan Jitney Plaid Carley Tote
Retail: $150
I love the bag inside another bag look.  The plaid really pops against the cream.

As you can see it is a very large handbag, and we all know I LOVE obnoxiously big handbags.

The best part about this item is that it is on sale from $248.  A very nice deal might I add.
