Welcome to the Peacock Revolution

There is a war going on. A war against machoism. What is machoism? Machoism, as defined by myself, is the belief that in order to be a man in today's society one should be a dirty, grungy, obtuse, hairy, bare-knuckle dragging, neandertal. No more! I am declaring war on machoism. This blog will forge a revolution. A Peacock Revolution!

Egypt: Aztec Style

Hello fellow mavens of style,

Last week me and my friend Wyneshia went to go see Sex and the City 2! I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about watching a movie about four rich women who jetset to the Middle East to be pampered to no avail. (*sigh* just a little jealous that's all). They movie however, turned out to be delightfully fun and don't get me started on how INSANE (I mean that in a good way) some of the clothes were. Anyway, seeing that movie reminded me of a rather pleasant rezendevous of my own. Let me tell you a small story.

A while back, I used to work with this guy at a clothing store here in Orlando. He introduced himself to me first (I'm not saying I'm ugly or anything, but this rarely happens to me); he was the stereotypical dreamboat formed by the adjectives tall, dark, and handsome; needless to say, I was caught off guard by the fact that this guy wanted to talk to me. Anywho, we conversated a little while, and he told me he was from Egypt. Wow!! Here I was conversating with this tall, dark, and handsome Egyptian guy!! Damn!! But this story has a sad ending, as I was too afraid to say anything, and I left to go to school in Miami. *sniff, sniff* I'm such a loser.

Of course that story is only half of this post.

Before I move on, a quick fact. Most people think Egypt is Middle Eastern, when in fact it is located on the Northeastern tip of Africa, so it is technically an African country. However, most of it's citizens have features considered Middle Eastern. Just thought you would like to know. : ^)

All these events and memories have inspired me to do an Egyptian set courtesy of polyvore. I also thought, why not throw in some Ancient Aztec inspired accessories for a culture clash worthy of Peacock Revolution! So without further ado, I present the culmination of my inspiration...

How do you say FIERCE in Korean?

Greetings stylish ones,

As I was looking for clothes to create more exciting sets on Polyvore, I came across many fashionable clothes that came from this website called YESSTYLE. I decided to click on over and see what this website was all about. If you have ever been to the site you will know that I wasn't disappointed, seeing as how cute trendy clothes abound. (I even saw products from Anna Sui!) Before heading over to the women's section, I decided to see what the clothes for the guys looked like. To my amazement, I found fresh and exciting looks for the guys as well including vests, blazers, and even harem pants!

Then, I came across this fierce Asian model boy. His style and the way he modeled the clothes were on point to say the least. He really sold me the clothes well and made me want to wear them as a phenomenal model should. Of course, I had to snag a couple of shots for you guys.

I mean it is like he came out of nowhere to show up and look awesome!

 Phenomenal.

A Good Laugh

Salutations gurus of style,

Today I was over at Polyvore playing around with colors. To be more specific, I was looking for an outfit with royal purple as the main color and grey as solid foundation to stablize the outfit. As I found things in this beautiful, vibrant jewel tone, I decided that emerald green accessories would be the perfect compliment. However, as I looked at the two colors together, I decided that this was a bit clownish.

That's when it hit me!! Why not create an outfit inspired by the Joker himself. Absolutely insane and extremely funny, I thought to myself as I grabbed a striped blazer (reminiscent of the Roaring 20's era for which the Joker's zoot suit is based off of). Threw in an emerald green ring and necklace and ta-da!!!

Simply Hilarious!!

Happy Birthday Mr. President!

Greetings fellow style gurus,

As stated yesterday, today is my birthday!! I will be heading to the park today and I will stay there until Shanequa gets off from work, and then I will head on over to her place to continue the festivities. After that, I am changing into a fabulous ensemble for a night out on the town.

Let's get this day started shall we, here is my birthday outfit...

Not really a good shot of the necklace. I apologize for that, but the focus of this pic was simply for an upclose shot of the face.

Here is a better shot of the necklace. I freakin love it, because it gives the outfit a tribal feel. The outfit itself is inspired by the safari style with the crisp white shirt and flirty tan shorts.

Of course I have on my faithful Cole Haan oxfords.

Back Shot!

 Shirt: Express
Shorts: H&M

Stay tuned for tonight's festivities. I'm off to the park...

Running Errands

Hello out there all ye style mavens,

Today is June 2nd and you know what that means. Ok, so you really don't know what that means...Oh well guess I'm not quite that popular yet. Anywhoo, tomorrow is my birthday!!! Yay me!

So today, I decided to run a couple of errands, such as buy some groceries, get an eye exam, wash some clothes, etc... I wanted to go very casual but with a couple of fun elements as I always do.

This is a little something I threw together. It consists of a t-shirt, short pants, black leather cutoff gloves, chucks, and a military anorak. The shirt is from Urban Trade- a small business venture that me and a friend are trying to set up.

I love the black-white-black effect. It reminds me of an oreo (ummmm oreo's yummmm). The gloves give the outfit a rebellious attitude. Oh, and this pose is awesome!

Of course, you know that I couldn't complete the outfit without my chuck's. My favorite pair. Chuck's are like kittens and rainbows-it's the sweetest thing.

After I took all these photos, I noticed that I had those damn earphones in my ear again. Honestly, I shouldn't listen to music as I'm getting ready. Apologies everyone.

 Military Anorak: H&M
T-Shirt: Urban Trade
Short Pants: Forever 21
Cutoff Gloves: Forever 21
Chuck's: Converse(Red)
Antique Key Necklace: Urban Outfitters
