Welcome to the Peacock Revolution

There is a war going on. A war against machoism. What is machoism? Machoism, as defined by myself, is the belief that in order to be a man in today's society one should be a dirty, grungy, obtuse, hairy, bare-knuckle dragging, neandertal. No more! I am declaring war on machoism. This blog will forge a revolution. A Peacock Revolution!

Slicker Than a Can of Oil

Salutations style mavens,

It's been a while since I posted a hygiene post.  I mean I do practice good hygiene everyday, I just don't normally find products worth blogging about.  That is until I stumbled across my latest obsession- Oils!

Oils can be extremely beneficial when it comes to hair and skin.  I went to GNC to see what good oils I could find to help me in my journey to great skin and hair...

Grapeseed Oil
Retail: $9.99
First up is Grapeseed Oil.  Grapeseed oil is lighter compared to other oils and is perfect for sealing in moisture in the hair and scalp and the skin as well.

Jojoba Oil
Retail: $9.99
I think Jojoba oil is the best of all the oils offered at my local GNC.  It's the most expensive at least.  It can be used for hair, skin, and all over the body.

Avocado Oil
Retail: $6.49
Avocado oil is the most familiar to me.  It is commonly used in most hair sprays for it's natural shine enhancing properties.  I have used this for both my hair and skin and love it.

So there you have it folks my latest craze.  I can't wait to the benefits and effects of using these products start kicking in.

Moisturize!

Hello to all style gurus,

Anyone who knows me knows that during the winter I transform into this disgustingly-ashen creature with skin dryer than the Sahara. So it is important for me to keep my skin extra moisturized during the cold weather months. (Only 2 more days of this crap!) This brings me to mention two great products that have kept me descent in appearance during these harsh times.

First up is for my face. To keep my skin moisturized properly I use Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera. Usually, witch hazel is an ingredient used in astringents; however this product can be used as a moisturizer because it is alcohol-free and will not dry out the skin. Use this after you have thoroughly cleansed the skin and use a cotton swab or round to apply it. I also notice that my skin heals faster when I use this product, probably due to the aloe vera.

Next, is what I use to nourish and hydrate my body. So far the best thing that I have found is Jergens Naturals: Ultra Hydrating Daily Moisturizer. This lotion features a light clean smell and uses natural ingredients like jojoba oil and agave extract. For me this lotion makes my skin healthy and feel soft all while having a light and airy scent that isn't overpowering.

These are products that I actually use and that I find work great for me. They earn extra points because they have light scents, because no one should be able to smell your facial moisturizer(that is what perfume and cologne are for). I suggest trying them for yourself and see if they help. They aren't very expensive and can be found in most stores, but the Thayer's Witch Hazel can be found on the company website or at GNC.com.

Until then, stay moisturized soldiers!

A Good Scrub-down

Salutations fellow gents,

So it is all about hygiene today here over at Revolution. I want to focus on the face, more importantly keeping it clean and clear.  Scrubs are the best way to keep the skin fresh and clean. I use a scrub at least 3 times a week. This helps in the fight against blackheads and dead skin cells that lie on the surface of the skin. The best scrub that I have used so far is from the Kiehl's product line...

Kiehl's Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub
I absolutely love this scrub. Before using this product, I had a patch of black heads in the center of my forehead. After using this product for about a month, I noticed they were gone. I have provided a link to the product at amazon.com below if anyone wants to try it. For $16.50 it is a bit pricey for a scrub, but it is well worth the cost.
