Welcome to the Peacock Revolution

There is a war going on. A war against machoism. What is machoism? Machoism, as defined by myself, is the belief that in order to be a man in today's society one should be a dirty, grungy, obtuse, hairy, bare-knuckle dragging, neandertal. No more! I am declaring war on machoism. This blog will forge a revolution. A Peacock Revolution!

Balmain Fall 2011

Greetings style mavens,

So it's been a minute since I featured a collection.  My last post featured a look from Balmain's Fall 2011 collection.

Today, I decided to feature more looks from this collection...

I love the length of this overcoat and the length of the scarf in this look.  It somehow makes the body appear slimmer and longer.

I am a definite fan of this gray scheme.

This is an interesting way to wear a scarf.  I may attempt this.

This reminds me of a very young sailor eager to prove himself on the high seas.

I LIVE for this coat! If somebody wants to buy it for me, please feel free to. I would greatly appreciate it.

...and a strong finish.  White blazer on deck!

Magnificent! Balmain does it again!

Get the Look: Shipwrecked!

Greetings my stylish friends,

I was cruising the internet the other day looking for the hottest looks the net has to offer.  So as always I go to my tried and true: GQ.com.  They always have the latest looks and the most fashionable gents.

As I combed through their runway archives for Fall 2011 I came across this handsome look...

I love this look.  It's from the Balmain collection for the aforementioned season.  It features a striped shirt, rugged skinny jeans, wellington-style boots, and a large double-breasted peacoat.  The striped shirt and the boots stamp an out-at-sea feel to this look.

Now let's break it down step-by-step:

Step 1: Striped Shirt

ASOS Selected Wardour Split Neck Stripe Shirt
Retail: $66
Though not red it still bears a nautical theme.

Step 2: Rugged Skinny Jeans

Diesel Larkee T 8Y9 Tapered Carrot Jeans at ASOS
Retail: $155
Whether tapered or skinny, jeans that become narrow at the ankles are the best when it comes to stuffing them in the boots.

Step 3: Wellington-style boots

Frank Wright Navajo Boots at ASOS
Retail: $121
The boots trend is still burning strong for men.  Though these aren't quite wellington-style, any boot will do just fine.

Step 4: Double-Breasted Peacoat

River Island Long Military Jacket at ASOS
$164
Even though it isn't a peacoat, it is double-breasted, and when unbuttoned it will give the same look as above.  Plus it is an awesome looking jacket.

Optional Step: Rain Boot

Kenneth Cole Electric Rain Rubber Boot
$98
These beauties are for those days when there is an actual chance of drowning by simply stepping outside.

This completes it. Happy Sailing (I know that was corny, but what do you want from me)

BDay Weekend Reflections: Part 2

Salutations to my stylish ones,

Ok so I was supposed to post this on Friday, but got a little caught up.  Oops! Oh well no sense in dwelling on that little fact.  This is the second day of my Birthday weekend extravaganza reflections...

This was definitely the show stopper of the two.

The rundown: a cape, a white t-shirt, jeans, and boots.

I am completely obsessed with this cape. I bought it from ASOS. It fits perfectly and features a hole where I can stick my hand through. It also has deep pockets.

Cape: ASOS.com
Jeans: Express
Boots: Urbanog.com

All in all my birthday was ok considering all that was going on. Here's to next year being better!

BDay Weekend Reflections: Part 1

Greetings fashion mavens,

So this past weekend was my Birthday. Yep, twenty-five years ago on June 3 the stars aligned, and I was conceived.  So this past weekend I tried to celebrate, however my birthday came up at an inappropriate time.  It was a lot of drama going on in my life, but whatever I still had to pull through and enjoy myself.  That Friday I went out with a friend from work and that Saturday, I went to Bento to have dinner with the crew Dexter, Dawanna, and Shanequa.

Alright let's start with Friday's outfit...

I love this outfit. It was very whimsical if you will.  I found the shirt and the pants at the local Goodwill.

The pants go to the natural waist and are cropped.

I am a big fan of video games, often being inspired by them.  So when I saw this Super Mario and Yoshi tee, I knew I had to have it.

The outfit was casual chic and was extremely comfortable for a night of partying.

Fedora: Target
Glasses: Aldo
T-shirt: Fruit of the Loom (Goodwill)
Pants: LizSport (Goodwill)
Belt: Target
Ring: Forever 21
Shoes: Zara

Check back this Friday for part 2 of BDay Weekend Reflections,

Most Wanted: T-Shirts

Salutations mavens of style,

Today, I want to tell you guys about an age old item that never goes out of style.  The t-shirt.  It just keeps going and going and going.  Anywho, I just want to give you guys some stylish options.  Of course you know that I'm not just going to give you some plain basic tees...

ASOS Dropped Armhole Hooded Vest.
Retail: $26
Even though it's called a vest, it is still a t-shirt. Not really sure why the called it a vest. Probably, because it buttons down in the front, but only halfway.

ASOS Long Sleeve Striped Top
Retail: $37
There is an easy going feel to this shirt that I really like. It is simple yet chic.

Villain Asymmetric V-Neck T-shirt
Retail: $42
I love this shirt because of it's imperfections. It features an off-center neckline and an uneven hem.  However, I'm not sure I want to pay $42 for it. :-/

ASOS Cowl Neck 3/4 Length Sleeve Top
Retail: $37
I love the neckline of this tee it's simple, yet it is something that has not been done too often.

Delusion Knot Hooded T-shirt
Retail: $148
This one is a bit pricey, but it is the most interesting in terms of fashion.
